bio

Márcio began his piano studies at the age of 5 in Divinópolis, in the interior of Minas Gerais. By 14, he was already playing in dance bands and had his own rock band, Grupo Esgotho (with guitarist Marcelo Santos). He moved to Belo Horizonte, where he studied Conducting and Composition at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Still in Belo Horizonte, he worked with local artists such as Sirlan, Lery Faria Jr., Melão (Márcio Barroso Santarosa), and Banda Livre, while continuing to work as a keyboardist in nightclubs and restaurants.

Eventually, he also worked as a sound technician using the equipment from his dance band “Brazil Export” (Lomiranda – vocals, piano, and organ; Davi Dâmaso, former AdCanto – bass; and Marco Antonio Funeral – drums), in shows for visiting artists such as Fafá de Belém, Alceu Valença, among others.

• In 1978, Lomiranda moved to Rio de Janeiro and, upon arriving, joined the band Original Orquestra (Lomiranda – keyboards; Luis Moreno – drums; Paul de Castro – guitar and violin; and Nelsinho das Laranjeiras – bass).

• In 1979, through a recommendation from fellow countryman and friend Túlio Mourão (ex-Mutantes), he joined the group that accompanied Ney Matogrosso, debuting in the show Feitiço and also participating in the recording of the album Sujeito Estranho.

• From 1981 to 1987, he was a member of the band accompanying Alceu Valença, taking part in the recordings of the albums Cavalo de Pau, Anjo Avesso, Estação da Luz, Mágico, Rubi, and later the CDs Desejos and Na Embolada do Tempo. With Alceu’s band, he also worked as an arranger and keyboardist on albums by Amelinha, Gal Costa, Zé Ramalho, Carlos Moura, Geraldo Azevedo, among others. In addition to Ney Matogrosso and Alceu Valença, he also played in the bands of Luiz Caldas, Sérgio Dias Baptista, Rosanah Fienngo, and Marina Lima.

• For about thirteen years, working with producer Guto Graça Mello, he participated as a keyboardist and/or arranger on albums by artists such as Cássia Eller, Fábio Júnior, Fat Family, Ivan Lins, Leila Pinheiro, Maria Bethânia, Milton Nascimento,

Gilberto Gil, Paula Toller, Sandra de Sá, Sandy & Junior, Zélia Duncan, among many others across a wide range of styles.

• In 1992, together with Paulo Rafael (guitar) and Tonia Schubert (vocals), he recorded the album Rútila Máquina (Polygram), an “electro-rock” project. The song “Magnificat,” written by him and recorded on this album, became the opening theme of the TV Globo soap opera Olho no Olho in 1993.

• From 1997 to January 2023, he was part of TV Globo’s team of music producers, composing original soundtracks for various programs and soap operas.

• In 2001, alongside Paulo Rafael and singer Taryn Szpilman, he released the album Eletro Fluminas.

• His first solo work was released in 2008, the album Verdazul (Eletro Fluminas/Som Livre).

• In 2022, in addition to releasing three singles with guitarist Paulo Rafael (“Sede,” “Assum Preto,” and “Sintético”), Lomiranda also released the solo album ELETROALMA, now available on all digital platforms.

• In 2022, he released a music video for a re-recording of the Black Sabbath classic “Changes,” in a duet with singer Cyz Mendes, for the soundtrack of the TV Globo soap opera Um Lugar ao Sol, for which he also composed all the original music together with Mú Carvalho.

• In 2024, with singer and songwriter Luapsy, he released the albums Bodhisattva Lado A and Bodhisattva Lado B.

• In 2025, also in partnership with Luapsy, he released the album I Met The Devil In A Dream. In addition, he composed the original music for Volte Sempre, a comedy show on Multishow, and is involved in the music production of Último Voo da Nave, a show by Xuxa scheduled to premiere in 2026.

• In 2026, alongside Luapsy, he has been releasing singles that will make up the album Anjo Baby 777, set for full release in July. He is also preparing the original music for the second season of Volte Sempre.
